Hi, I'm Gonia. I was supposed to keep up the mystique to fit the overall vibes of the "bia" entity. But I'm also a cringy millennial, so I'd rather give you a peak behind the curtain, and share the whole story.
Borosilicate glass
Borosilicate glass (COE 33) was engineered to withstand thermal shock and impact considerably well, so it’s mainly used for professional lab equipment. It’s highly scratch-resistant and doesn’t tarnish, fade, or cloud from daily use (or wear).
However, it’s still glass. While it can handle regular daily life occurrences, avoid dropping your objects directly onto hard surfaces. You can clean your borosilicate glass objects with warm water and mild soap, or simply use standard glasswipes.
Process
Working with borosilicate glass is a collaboration between human hands, open flame, gravity, and the material itself.
Each object starts with a clear idea and intentions, but I'm open to the unexpected and lean into it. Because everything is shaped individually, with no moulds, every object is completely unique and unrepeatable.
Jewellery objects are wearable art created with human body in mind. I pay special attention to smooth edges, reasonable ring thickness, and light weight, to ensure high wearing comfort.
